Abu Dhabi:Dr. C.B. Singh, the Deputy Director General at India's Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), has commended the UAE for its leadership in enhancing global food security and developing the food ecosystem.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Singh expressed his appreciation during the Indian Pavilion's participation at the exhibition for Global Food Week. The event, themed 'Building Scalable Food Futures Together,' is organized by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA). It features 2,580 exhibitors from 92 countries showcasing innovations in agriculture and food production.
Dr. Singh emphasized India's significant involvement in the event, highlighting the strong relationship between India and the UAE, and the opportunities to enhance cooperation in food trade, agricultural products, and food security. The Indian delegation includes around 10 exhibitors and five major trade associations from key sectors such as rice, fresh fruit and vegetables, and horticulture, representing producers and farmers.
He also noted India's substantial capabilities in producing a wide range of agricultural and food products, including grains, dairy, fresh produce, processed foods, and animal products. The aim is to showcase these capabilities and create new opportunities for Indian companies to access the UAE market.
Dr. Singh highlighted food security, food corridors, and logistics supply chains as critical areas for collaboration, especially given current global supply chain challenges. He stressed the importance of joint solutions to ensure a sustainable flow of food products and improve supply and demand efficiencies between the two nations.
He further praised the UAE's efforts to bolster the food ecosystem and enhance food security, pointing out that Global Food Week uniquely combines strategic discussions on future challenges with a trade exhibition that promotes product showcasing and business relationship building.
