Industrial Producers’ Prices index up 3pct in 2 months

The Industrial Producers’ Prices Index picked up by 3.73 percent in the first two months of 2023, reaching 136.81 points against 131.89 points in the same period of 2022, the latest figures showed.

A report issued Tuesday by the Department of Statistics (DoS) said this upward trend results from a 3.02 percent increase in the manufacturing industries prices index and a 21.74 percent increase in the extractive industries prices index, while the prices index of electricity dropped by 8.56 percent.

The producer’s prices index for February of 2023 went up by 3 percent, reaching 137.77 points compared to 133.76 during the same month of 2022, the report noted.

The main contributors to the monthly rise were manufacturing industries with a 2.34 percent contribution to the overall increase followed by extractive industries with 19.57 percent, while the electricity prices index went down by 8.33 percent.
