Israel must act to stop acts of genocide in Gaza – World Court order

Amman: On Friday, the highest court of the United Nations mandated that Israel take action to stop and penalize the deliberate incitement of genocide during its Gaza War.

“The state of Israel shall . take all measures within its power to prevent the commission of all acts within the scope of Article II of the Genocide convention,” the International Court of Justice (ICJ) said.

With the significant exception of directing an end to Israeli military activity in Gaza, the majority of the 17-judge panel of the ICJ ruled in favor of immediate actions, which encompassed most of South Africa’s requests.

The court ruled that Israel must ensure that its troops do not carry out any genocidal crimes in Gaza and abstain from any actions that would violate the genocide agreement.
