Japan complete comeback against Senegal, advance to FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup UAE 2024 quarter-finals

DUBAI: Japan emerged victorious from an incredible battle with Senegal to seal their place in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup UAE 2024 knockout phase.

Senegal raced into a two-goal lead by the second period but Japan, undeterred, fought back and restored parity through Kosuke Matsuda.

The Lions of Teranga did reclaim their two-goal lead midway through the third with help from a stunning overhead kick by Mamour Diagne, but Japan roared back once more and would eventually win the game after Takaaki Oba and Ozu netted late on.

Japan will now advance to the last eight, while Senegal head home at the group stage for the first time since 2015.
