Jordan and France Discuss Water and Sanitation Collaboration

Amman: Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Saud, met with the French Ambassador to Jordan, Alexis Le Cour Grandmaison, on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing cooperation in water and sanitation projects.

The meeting aimed to explore ways to further strengthen this partnership and expand French contributions to Jordan’s water sector.

Abu Saud outlined the Ministry’s work in developing water and sanitation services, mentioning the projects funded by France and French investments, particularly in BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) projects.

He highlighted the efforts to implement sustainable water solutions, such as the National Carrier Project, emphasizing the government’s focus on speeding up this essential national initiative.

The minister stressed the importance of private sector involvement in the operation and maintenance of water and sanitation facilities. He expressed the intention to boost private sector partnerships to improve service quality and seek new water sources.

Ambassador Le Cour Grandmaison praised the progress within the water sector and its response to growing water demands. He assured the continuation of the Jordanian-French collaboration, which serves the interests of both countries.
