Jordan can’t end war on Gaza alone – says FM

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said that Jordan can’t end the war on Gaza alone. He added, during a joint press conference with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock on Thursday, that a declaration of war by the Kingdom is not the way to stop the war. Safadi said, “We must be frank with the Jordanian people and we will not sell them any slogans or illusions. We have martyrs in the land of Palestine,” expressing his hope that the war on Gaza would be the last. He said, “Our priority is to immediately bring aid into Gaza and preventing its entry is a war crime, adding that, “Depriving innocent people of food and water and depriving patients of medicine is a war crime,” noting that the stock of medicines and medical supplies in the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza is sufficient for only one week, stressing work on providing the hospital with the necessary assistance. Safadi reiterated Jordan’s unwavering stance towards the Palestinian cause which supports the goal of achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, stressing that without meeting the rights of the Palestinian people the Middle East region will not enjoy security, peace, or stability. He also stressed that there is no difference between one victim and another according to nationality and religion, adding that violence does not justify violence and killing does not justify killing. He affirmed Jordan’s rejection to displace the Palestinians from their land, adding that any step in this direction would lead to a new war in the region, and Jordan will not allow the crisis created by Israel to be displaced to Jordan. Safadi stressed that human values ??must be undivided, and international law applies to everyone, noting that all Arab citizens ask: “Why is preventing food and medicine from Ukrainians a war crime and preventing food and medicine from Palestinians is not a war crime?” Meanwhile, Safadi announced that Jordan will dispatch a second relief aircraft tomorrow to El Arish airport in Egypt to support Gazans. For her part, Baerbock announced that her country decided to increase the humanitarian aid it provides to the people of Gaza by 50 million euros. She said that her country is working with Jordan to alleviate the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip, and there is a shortage of food, medical equipment and water, as hundreds of thousands have lost their homes and looking for safety.
