Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and Digital Agency of Japan on Tuesday signed a memorandum of cooperation in the digital transformation field, to enhance joint technical collaboration and exchange expertise between the two countries.
According to a ministry statement, the memo, signed by Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Hanandeh, and Japanese Minister for Digital Transformation, Kono Taro, aims to enhance cooperation opportunities in the fields of information technology, innovation and digital transformation.
The MoU focuses on modern digital technologies, primarily artificial intelligence, Internet of things, blockchains, electronic cloud and robots, in addition to technologies related to data, e-payment, digital identity, sustainable information technology, and smart cities, the statement said.
The memo also aims to provide joint support and training in the fields of technology, promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship, digital government and provision of public services, by transferring best practices, participating in conferences and study visits, and exchanging experts between the two countries.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hanandeh affirmed the government’s keenness to enhance partnership, cooperation and expertise exchange with Japanese government, and benefit from their “vast” experience and expertise in the digital transformation field, which would serve common development interests.
Moreover, Hanandeh stressed the government’s constant endeavor to keep pace with the latest developments and benefit from the best international practices and opportunities available in the areas of digital transformation and modern technologies.
This effort, he noted, aims to improving life quality, developing government services, strengthening Jordan’s position in the areas of modern innovation and entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable development goals.
For his part, the Japanese minister referred to Jordan’s efforts to promote digital economy and entrepreneurship at the national level, expressing hope this memo, which focuses on developing digital human resources, digital infrastructure and some related areas, would boost the two countries’ development to achieve human digitalization-driven process.
