“I believe that the Jordanian position and the efforts have had an impact in clarifying the truth of what is happening, to expose the Israeli narrative by emphasizing to the world that what Israel is doing is not self-defense, but a revenge war driven by ideology based on clear policies of the Israeli government since before October 7, to kill the chances of achieving peace, and to continue building settlements, land confiscation, and attacks on West Bank cities and Palestinians there,” Safadi said, referring to “settler terrorism that we saw on Saturday in a brutal manner on dozens of Palestinian villages.”.
We have a great challenge to confront, and we will continue in this role and at the same time protecting Jordan and its interests,” he said.
When asked about Iranian media outlets that threatened Jordan, Safadi said, “Unfortunately, there have been abusive statements by Iranian media outlets, including Iran’s official news agency.”
“Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the charge d’affaires
of the Iranian embassy in Amman and conveyed a clear message that these insults to Jordan must stop, and this questioning of Jordan’s positions must stop,” Safadi added.
“Iran’s issue is with Israel, not with Jordan, and neither Iran nor anyone else can lecture on what Jordan is doing, what Jordan offers, or what Jordan has historically offered for Palestine,” he added.
“We have paid blood for Palestine, our martyrs have risen on Palestinian soil, we lead unceasing efforts to support Palestine and the Palestinian right, and His Majesty the King’s positions are clear and explicit, and his efforts are clear, direct and effective in serving the Palestinian right,” Safadi added.
“Our message to Iran is that your issue is with Israel. It is unacceptable, and we categorically reject any attempt to offend Jordan. We want good relations with all regional countries, including Iran, and in order to reach these good relations, the other must be respected, there must be no interference in internal affairs, and Jordan
must not be offended because we will not accept anyone to offend Jordan,” he said.
