Sharjah: Sheikh Khaled bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, officially inaugurated the 57th edition of the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show. The event is organized by Expo Centre Sharjah with support from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). It will run until June 14, featuring participation from 400 exhibitors across 19 countries, including leading global designers and manufacturers of luxury watches and jewellery.
According to Emirates News Agency, the exhibition covers an area of 30,000 square meters, where Sheikh Khaled explored the latest product launches and design innovations. The exhibition features major local and international jewellery brands and manufacturers, showcasing luxury watch collections, exclusive diamond jewellery, and high-end pieces made from gold, platinum, and silver. The event highlights its role as a platform for global industry innovation.
Sheikh Khaled also visited the Emirati Goldsmiths Platform, an initiative supporting national talent in the gold and jewellery sector. Emirati designers showcased creations blending Emirati heritage with contemporary aesthetics, reflecting global fashion trends while maintaining cultural identity. Accompanying Sheikh Khaled were key figures from SCCI, Expo Centre Sharjah, and various government officials and stakeholders from the jewellery industry.
Sheikh Khaled emphasized that the exhibition highlights Sharjah's importance as a hub for exhibitions, contributing to economic diversification and growth. He described the show as a flagship event that strengthens networking among companies and stakeholders, generating value for the gold and jewellery sector. He also praised the efforts of SCCI and Expo Centre Sharjah in promoting the exhibition as a global industry platform.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, stated that the show supports the growth of the jewellery industry by facilitating networking and partnerships among international stakeholders. He noted the exhibition's role as a marketplace for innovation and business development amid global growth in the sector. The Emirates Goldsmiths Platform, he explained, is vital for nurturing Emirati talent and supporting their expansion into international markets.
This year's edition includes participation from eight Arab countries and key international markets, with dedicated pavilions for exhibitors from Hong Kong, India, Italy, Singapore, and Thailand. The exhibition showcases a range of premium collections and the latest global trends, including laboratory-grown diamonds and luxury watch releases.
A significant attraction is the Emirati Goldsmiths Platform, which showcases advanced craftsmanship and heritage-driven design. It supports Emirati designers by providing exposure to a global audience and enabling competition alongside international brands, fostering the growth of the UAE's creative industries and enhancing local talent's competitiveness.
