Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has witnessed the inauguration ceremony of teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, a multisensory art experience and cultural landmark in Saadiyat Cultural District. H.H. Sheikh Khaled emphasised the significance of the opening in reinforcing the emirate’s position as a centre for arts, culture, and innovation, while praising efforts to enrich Abu Dhabi’s cultural and creative landscape.
According to Emirates News Agency, the grand opening was attended by distinguished guests and cultural leaders. It featured a performance by Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi, accompanied by a display of 6,000 synchronised drones and pyrotechnics, celebrating the new milestone for the Saadiyat Cultural District.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, stated that teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi is a cultural landmark that redefines immersive art experiences globally. He highlighted the collaboration with teamLab in bringing this concept to life, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s commitment to offering world-class experiences that inspire and contribute to its cultural legacy.
Toshiyuki Inoko, Founder of teamLab, explained that the artworks in teamLab Phenomena are created by the environment and remain intact even when physically immersed in by people. The artworks are designed to adapt and transform, responding to changes in the environment.
The 17,000 square metre teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi was developed by teamLab, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. This multisensory art experience reflects the emirate’s commitment to creativity and cultural innovation, presenting transformative artworks that blend art, science, and technology.
The venue explores the limits of imagination, with artworks evolving through light, sound, and movement. Comprising Wet and Dry areas, the experience immerses guests in visuals, landscapes, and interactive installations, offering a unique adaptation to each visitor’s experience.
As part of the Saadiyat Cultural District, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi contributes to the largest concentration of cultural and educational institutions globally, including Louvre Abu Dhabi and the upcoming Zayed National Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.
