Khalifa University Celebrates Success of First Athar Programme Cohort


Abu dhabi: Khalifa University of Science and Technology announced the successful conclusion of the first cohort of its Athar programme, an alumni-driven mentorship initiative designed to connect academic learning with career readiness.



According to Emirates News Agency, the Athar programme, meaning ‘impact’ in Arabic, was launched to provide students and recent graduates with invaluable guidance from experienced alumni. Over six months, the initiative facilitated 59 mentor-mentee connections, pairing 31 alumni mentors with 47 senior students and 12 recent graduates. This effort forms part of the university’s broader strategy to enhance student development and alumni engagement.



Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, highlighted the programme’s success, stating that it has become a flagship initiative at the university. He emphasized the dedication of alumni mentors and the eagerness of students to learn as key factors in the programme’s establishment. The Athar programme underscores Khalifa University’s commitment to producing graduates who are well-prepared for the workforce.



By connecting students with accomplished alumni, the university aims to create a cycle of giving back, strengthening the community. Professor Al Hajri noted that the collaboration between alumni mentors and students has left a lasting impact, with expectations that future cohorts will continue to build on this momentum.
