KSrelief, WFP Sign Cooperation Agreement to Prevent Acute Malnutrition in Drought-Affected Areas in Somalia

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and the World Food Programme (WFP) yesterday signed a cooperation agreement to prevent acute malnutrition in drought-affected areas of the Federal Republic of Somalia. As part of the agreement, $4.5 million will benefit 180,148 individuals. Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and WFP Executive Director Cindy Hensley McCain signed the agreement on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The agreement entails purchasing 1,068.5 metric tons of food that will meet the nutritional requirements of 57,301 pregnant and lactating women, and of 122,847 children under the age of two. The agreement is yet another example of the humanitarian role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, in the most impoverished countries, in support of vulnerable and needy people.
