Kuwait city: The Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iranian Ambassador to the country, Mohammad Toutounchi, on Saturday. During the meeting, Kuwait condemned what it described as Iranian attacks targeting the country with ballistic missiles and drones, which it considers a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty, airspace, the UN Charter, and international law.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ministry emphasized that the attacks, especially those targeting Kuwait International Airport, are a breach of international humanitarian law. This law prohibits targeting civilian facilities and endangering civilians. The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait's right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, ensuring that any response would be proportionate and in accordance with international law.
Kuwait also stated its intention to take necessary measures to protect its territory, citizens, and residents. The ministry highlighted that the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states are interconnected, and any threat to one member state's sovereignty is a direct threat to their collective security.
