Libya and Italy sign a prisoner exchange agreement.

The Minister of Justice of the Government of National Unity, Halima Ibrahim, signed with her Italian counterpart Carlo Nordio in the city of Palermo on Friday an agreement to exchange prisoners sentenced to custodial sentences between Libya and Italy.

The signing of the agreement was attended by the Acting Minister of the Interior, Major General Imad Trabelsi, on the sidelines of Libya’s participation in the activities of the international conference held in the Italian city of Palermo to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.

The Italian Nova News Agency reported that the agreement will enter into force, after it is approved by the Italian Parliament through a specific ratification bill.
