Lithuania’s Deputy FM emphasises bold decisions to transition to new, sustainable economies


ABU DHABI: Simonas Šatunas, Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania, has emphasised the need for bold decisions to transition to new, sustainable economies.

He highlighted Lithuania’s efforts in adapting industries, developing renewable energy like wind and hydrogen, and aiming for energy self-sufficiency by 2050 through offshore wind platforms in the Baltic Sea.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the third Investopia conference in Abu Dhabi, Šatunas also commended the UAE’s strides in sustainable development and expressed optimism about growing trade relations, particularly in food, manufacturing, technology, and IT sectors.

The Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of events like Investopia for global cooperation and perspectives, emphasising the significance of transitioning to a new economy for success.

He discussed efforts between Lithuania and the UAE to enhance business opportunities, mentioning flydubai’s new route between Dubai and Vilnius as a catalyst
for increased tourism, idea exchange, and technology collaboration between the two countries.
