LODD Autonomous Plans Historic Cross-Border Drone Flight in 2027

Al Ain:Rashid Matar Al Manai, CEO of LODD Autonomous, announced the company's intention to conduct the world's first cross-border autonomous drone test flight for civilian use. The flight is set for 2027 during the pilot testing phase of the 'HILI', a hybrid vertical take-off and landing aircraft, with departure from the UAE to a neighboring country.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Manai shared these details at Investopia Bridge 2026. He highlighted collaboration with local and international logistics providers, aiming to facilitate the delivery of the aircraft to both domestic and international clients.

The CEO mentioned that LODD Autonomous is already testing the HILI aircraft in Al Ain and plans to submit the final certification application to the authorities soon. The company is also initiating initial manufacturing steps in preparation for the 2027 pilot tests.

Al Manai disclosed that the company has received over 330 orders for the HILI aircraft, with more than 70% coming from international buyers, demonstrating strong global confidence in both the UAE and its manufacturing capabilities.

He pointed out that the company's workforce includes over 100 employees, 30% of whom are graduates from UAE universities, actively contributing to the aircraft development process.

Al Manai concluded by expressing pride in participating in Investopia Bridge and in LODD Autonomous being named among 100 future companies, stating that this recognition serves as a strategic incentive for ongoing development of unmanned aircraft to revolutionize the air-cargo sector.
