French presidency announced Tuesday that President Emmanuel Macron accepted the resignation of the government and asked ministers to stay on in a caretaker capacity until a new cabinet is appointed. President Macron accepted" the resignation of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and other ministers on Tuesday," the presidency said in a statement. It added that Attal and other government members are "to handle current affairs until a new government is being appointed". It noted that the caretaker government, led by Attal, will hanle only day-to-day affairs.
