Maktoum Bin Mohammed Approves Key Initiatives in Dubai Judicial Council Meeting

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, chaired a meeting of the Dubai Judicial Council to address judicial authority matters and strategic plans.

According to Emirates News Agency, during the meeting, Sheikh Maktoum approved the appointment of judicial inspectors within the Judicial Inspection Authority, part of the Authority's 2025 appointments plan. Additionally, he sanctioned the enrolment of 14 judicial trainees into the Judicial and Legal Studies programme, furthering Dubai Courts' initiative to prepare qualified Emirati judges.

Sheikh Maktoum also approved a resolution regarding the secondment of judiciary members, aiming to enhance their qualifications and exposure to judicial best practices. The budget for judicial appointments and promotions for 2026 was also approved.

The meeting included a review of the Community Confidence in Dubai Judicial System survey for 2024, which indicated an increase in public confidence to 86%. The survey highlighted that 92% of respondents were satisfied with access to legal information through judicial bodies, showcasing the effectiveness of services offered by judicial departments.

The survey further revealed that 87% of respondents recognized Dubai's judicial entities for upholding justice and protecting rights and freedoms, while 89% acknowledged efforts to ensure universal justice. Additionally, 90.41% affirmed the judiciary's role in safeguarding rights and freedoms, with 86% expressing confidence in auditing mechanisms for the judicial system.

Dr. Abdullah Saif Al Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Judicial Council, noted that the survey's positive results are due to legislative measures and ongoing efforts by the Judicial Council and other entities to enhance the judicial system.

The meeting attendees included Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of H.H. The Dubai Ruler's Court; Counsellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai; Judge Dr. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Dubai Courts; Judge Dr. Abdullah Saif Al Sabousi, Secretary-General of the Judicial Council; and Council members.

The Dubai Judicial Council remains committed to fostering an independent judiciary that upholds justice, equality, and the rule of law, supporting Dubai's sustainable development through a fair and effective judicial system.
