Dubai:The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG), in collaboration with the Arab Planning Institute in Kuwait and The Gulf Consultant for Consultations, Training and Research in Dubai, organized a scientific conference addressing Finance and International Trade in the New Era of Protectionism.
According to Emirates News Agency, the conference was held on September 28th and 29th in a hybrid format. It focused on examining changes in international trade and financial systems, aiming to enhance the resilience of Arab economies and their ability to adapt to global shifts.
Dr. Ali bin Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, emphasized that the conference serves as a crucial platform for linking applied research with public policymaking and anticipating global transformations. He noted that this event marks the beginning of strategic cooperation with the Arab Planning Institute.
Prof. Adel A. Al-Wugayan, Director-General of the Arab Planning Institute, highlighted the necessity of building more resilient institutions and developing economic tools to tackle geopolitical challenges and new forms of protectionism.
Rehan Mubarak Fayez, Founder and President of The Gulf Consultant, stressed the importance of bolstering economic diversification, supply-chain resilience, and the competitiveness of Arab exports.
The conference gathered officials, experts, and academics to discuss strategic themes such as geopolitical transformations, new and green protectionism, trade finance, and export diversification. Discussions also included the role of artificial intelligence, economic integration, and trade diplomacy to develop proactive policies that can respond to evolving global economic challenges.
