Meteorology predicts variable rain, hot weather


The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expected rain of varying intensity in several governorates, hot weather in the deserts and western coastal plains, and sea turbulence south of the western coast and the entrance to Bab Al-Mandab during the next 24 hours.

According to the weather forecast issued by the centre, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), rain of varying intensity is expected, which may sometimes be accompanied by thunder, in various areas of the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Amran, Al-Jawf, Al-Mahwit, Sana’a, Dhamar, Raymah and Ibb.

Light to moderate rain is likely in parts of the governorates of Al Dhalea, Al Bayda, Taiz, northern Lahj, Ma’rib and Hadhramaut Plateau.

The center indicated that maximum temperatures may be high in the deserts and western coastal plains, and active winds will blow with a maximum speed of 28 knots in the south of the western coast and the entrance to Bab Al-Mandab.

It was reported that scattered rain fell during the past
24 hours on parts of the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sana’a, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz and Al-Bayda, which were outside the range of weather monitoring stations.

The Center alerted citizens in areas expected to rain about the flow of torrents in reefs and valleys and advised not to cross them or be in their streams, as well as to take the necessary measures to prevent lightning strikes.

It also warned of hot weather in the deserts and western coastal plains, sea turbulence and high waves in the south of the western coast and the entrance to Bab Al-Mandab.
