Abu dhabi: The Foreign Ministers of the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, and Egypt have issued a joint statement strongly condemning recent remarks by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz. These statements, concerning the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, have sparked significant international backlash.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ministers criticized the proposals put forward by the Israeli ministers for mechanisms aimed at forcibly removing Palestinians from their land. They stated that such proposals violate principles of international law, including international humanitarian law, and threaten the rights of the Palestinian people.
The officials reaffirmed their rejection of any plans targeting the displacement of Palestinians within or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory. They cautioned against transforming these calls for displacement into official policy or concrete actions, which would challenge international peace efforts and undermine regional stability.
The ministers highlighted the importance of maintaining the unity of Palestinian territories, emphasizing that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. They reiterated that the path to a just and lasting peace lies in the two-State solution, establishing an independent Palestinian State along the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Furthermore, the ministers called on the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to confront attempts to alter the demographic or geographic landscape of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and to uphold international law. They expressed their continued support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
