Damascus, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Al-Mikdad, received credentials of Ambassador Shi Hongwei, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Syria, according to SANA reporter.
During the meeting, Minister Mikdad stressed the depth of the historical relations binding the two countries and Syria’s pride in the various aspects of cooperation existing between the two countries, especially in terms of China’s position in support of Syria in the face of the terrorist war imposed on it and in rejecting the immoral and inhuman unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria and the peoples of the world.
Minister Mikdad also expressed Syria’s high appreciation for the aid provided by China, praising the role of this assistance in strengthening the steadfastness of the Syrians, and expressing Syria’s aspiration for China’s wide contribution to the reconstruction process.

Ambassador Hongwei, in turn, expressed his pride in appointing him to Syria and his return to work in it, praising Syria’s positions in support of China in the face of attempts to interfere in its internal affairs and the efforts of some countries to undermine its unity and sovereignty.
The ambassador affirmed his intention to work on strengthening the existing cooperation in various political, economic and cultural fields, and his endeavor to develop and expand this cooperation to include other sectors and broader areas in a way that achieves the aspirations of the two peoples.
At the end of the meeting, the minister wished Ambassador Hongwei success in his duties, stressing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates will provide him with all facilitations, in cooperation with various Syrian authorities, to serve the development of bilateral relations.
