Minister of Local Government discusses with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator the reconstruction plan for Derna.


GNU Minister of Local Government and Head of the Government Emergency and Rapid Response Team, Badr al-Din al-Toumi, discussed with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN, the Humanitarian Coordinator, Georgette Gagnon, and her accompanying delegation the development of recovery processes and reconstruction plan for Derna.

During the meeting held yesterday, Al-Toumi reviewed the latest developments in the government’s preparation within the framework of recovery and preparation processes for Derna’s reconstruction and its surrounding areas, stressing the importance of joint work, coordination, and permanent communication with international partners to ensure the development and implementation of a solid plan for reconstruction that is based on accurate and comprehensive information, incorporating modern technologies that can be used to assess damages and plan the reconstruction phase.

In the conclusion, the importance of exchanging information and close cooperation between the
government and international partners was stressed to ensure immediate and effective support for those affected and the reconstruction of affected areas.
