Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Education and Space42, the country’s first AI-powered SpaceTech company, have announced a new educational campaign aimed at inspiring and educating future scientists, engineers, and space enthusiasts. This initiative comes as part of the lead-up to the launch of the next-generation mobility system, the Thuraya 4 satellite.
According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign will invite students from schools run by the UAE Ministry of Education to visit Yahsat Space Services’ facilities across the UAE. This initiative is part of the Thuraya 4’s pre-launch ‘One World. Deeply Connected’ campaign, which seeks to promote engagement with the sciences through practical learning experiences that align with the UAE’s STEM curriculum.

During the school tours of Yahsat Space Services’ facilities, students will explore the satellite control center and engage directly with engineers to understand satellite technology’s complexities. The program will also include interactive workshops, presentations, and Q and A sessions accessible virtually.
Sulaiman Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Students’ Wellbeing Sector, praised the Ministry of Education’s dedication to engaging students in fields aligned with the UAE’s vision, particularly in space sciences. He acknowledged Space42’s efforts to involve public school students in its initiatives and enhance their understanding of advanced sciences and space technology.
The campaign offers schools and students a unique opportunity to experience real-world applications of their STEM education. It aims to inspire students by introducing them to po
tential career paths in aerospace and technology, motivating them to pursue further studies in STEM fields. Additionally, the initiative connects students with the UAE’s accomplishments in space exploration, enhancing their understanding of their role in a global context.
Yahsat Space Services and Control Centre in Abu Dhabi will host pupils from grades 7 to 9 from one school per week over six weeks in October and November 2024. Students will also visit the Thuraya gateway and offices in Sharjah.
