Washington: The Ministry of Finance organised an awareness session at the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC, bringing together a group of Emirati students studying in the United States. This event coincided with the launch of the UAE Global Cadres initiative, which aims to explore training programs and career opportunities in international financial organisations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the session is part of the Ministry's efforts to invest in human capital and empower national talent to assume roles within international financial institutions. The gathering was attended by key figures such as Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance; Ali Abdullah Sharafi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for International Financial Relations; Azza Ali AlJassmi, Director of Government Communication; and Thuraiya Hamid AlHashmi, Director of International Financial Relations and Organisations.
Representatives from the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) also participated, offering insights into recruitment mechanisms and professional development opportunities at both institutions. AlKhoori highlighted the strategic nature of the UAE Global Cadres initiative, designed to build a generation of young Emiratis capable of representing the UAE on the international financial stage.
Alia Al Suwaidi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC, expressed the Embassy's commitment to engaging with Emirati students in the United States. She emphasized their role as ambassadors of the nation's values and the importance of initiatives that enrich their knowledge and professional networks.
The session provided an overview of key training and professional development programs available through international financial institutions. Students engaged in discussions about application processes, admission requirements, and potential career paths in global financial organisations.
