Mnifi meets with Norland.


Tripoli: President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi, confirmed today, Wednesday, his keenness to advance the political process and address the impasse by continuing talks with the Libyan parties,

This came during Al-Mnifi’s reception of the US President’s Special Envoy, Richard Norland, in the presence of the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for North African Affairs, Josh Harris, and the Charge d’affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brent.

Al-Mnifi, according to the media office of the President of the Council, expressed his appreciation for the role of the United States in supporting the work of the Supreme Financial Committee and our steps in partnership with the UN mission to reach a real political settlement based on direct appeal to the people.

In turn, Norland appreciated Al-Mnifi’s role and his tireless work to create bridges of communication with the actors and those concerned with the Libyan issue, stressing that the United States of America would continue its support fo
r the Supreme Finance Committee formed by the Presidential Council, according to the media office.

According to the media office, the meeting dealt with a number of political, economic and security files, in addition to the human rights file, and ways to jointly rebuild the city of Derna in cooperation with international institutions, including the World Bank, in addition to the file of securing borders and combating terrorism.
