MoHAP and Partners Elevate UAE Pilgrims’ Health Through ‘Healthy and Safe Hajj’ Campaign

Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), in collaboration with federal and local government entities, is steadfast in promoting the wellbeing of UAE pilgrims returning from the Holy Lands through the 'Healthy and Safe Hajj' campaign.

According to Emirates News Agency, this campaign is part of a comprehensive preventive system designed to protect public health and bolster community wellbeing before, during, and after the Hajj pilgrimage. It underscores the readiness of the UAE's healthcare sector and the effectiveness of its proactive plans in addressing major national and religious events.

MoHAP emphasized the importance of raising awareness about preventive measures following pilgrims' return, which plays a crucial role in safeguarding families and the community. The campaign encourages positive health behaviors related to infection prevention and strengthens community preparedness, aligning with the UAE's vision of a resilient healthcare system capable of adapting to emerging health challenges.

The Ministry advised pilgrims to adhere to health guidelines post-Hajj, such as getting sufficient rest, maintaining hydration, and following prescribed treatment plans for chronic conditions. Pilgrims are also urged to monitor symptoms that may necessitate medical attention, particularly for senior citizens and those more prone to physical exhaustion.

Symptoms like fever or persistent coughing interfering with daily activities should prompt medical consultation within two weeks of returning. Pilgrims are encouraged to practice respiratory etiquette by covering their mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, washing hands regularly, and avoiding close contact to prevent infection spread.

The 'Healthy and Safe Hajj' campaign, organised by MoHAP alongside the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, Emirates Health Services, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Health, and Sharjah Health Authority, represents a unified national approach to preventive health awareness. Through its coordinated outreach and comprehensive health guidance provided throughout the Hajj journey, the campaign continues to advance public wellbeing and enhance community quality of life.
