Damascus, SANA- The total number of flights that have arrived at the international airports of Damascus, Aleppo and Lattakia, carrying aid for the earthquake-affected people, has reached 256 planes so far, according to the Director General of Civil Aviation in Syria Basem Mansour.
Mansour noted that new permissions were granted to Emirati planes as of March 1st to 7th, adding that the number of aid planes that arrived from the UAE reached to 127 planes to date, out of the total number of flights.
Mansour said in a statement to SANA that the total aid varied between relief supplies, foodstuffs, first aid and medical supplies, hospital equipment and ambulances, adding the total amount of aid that arrived via these planes amounted to 7,200 tons.
Director of Damascus International Airport, Bashar Ghafra, stated that all planes that transported aid and relief shipments to the airport were exempted from all fees, in addition to securing six halls of honor to receive official delegations.
