Abu dhabi: Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, highlighted the UAE's commitment to building a comprehensive global healthcare system at the Mediclinic Hospitals Cancer Centres Annual Congress 2026. This system is founded on innovation and scientific excellence, prioritizing a patient-centered model that enhances quality of life and healthcare standards in line with international benchmarks.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event took place in Abu Dhabi with the backing of the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi. It concluded with the participation of over 400 oncology experts and healthcare professionals. In his address, Sheikh Nahyan emphasized the congress's theme, 'Beyond Treatment, A Commitment to Every Patient, Every Step of the Way,' underscoring the importance of technical skill, compassion, and dedication in healthcare.
Sheikh Nahyan praised the UAE's healthcare system, driven by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for its focus on human wellbeing, scientific excellence, and quality of life. He highlighted the patient-centered, values-driven approach characterized by teamwork, medical research, and the use of digital technology, promoting healthier lifestyles through education and awareness.
The congress showcased a holistic vision of cancer care, embracing the entire patient journey from prevention to compassionate end-of-life care. Sheikh Nahyan lauded the event's emphasis on collaboration, multidisciplinary discussions, and the human dimension of care, including psychological wellbeing and pain management.
He also stressed the importance of prevention and early detection, highlighting the role of awareness, education, and vaccination in the fight against cancer. Advances in science and technology, such as precision medicine and immune therapy, are transforming oncology and enabling personalized treatments.
Now in its fifth edition, the congress brought together oncology experts, regulatory bodies, and healthcare professionals to discuss cancer care advancements. The congress was accredited by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi for 11 Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours.
