Abu dhabi: The National Library and Archives (NLA) has launched a groundbreaking suite of electronic systems along with 14 artificial intelligence agents, marking a significant advancement in document and information management. This initiative was unveiled during International Archives Week 2026, celebrated from June 8th to 12th, which also featured an exhibition showcasing the evolution of information technology and preservation methods.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Abdullah Majed Al Ali, Director General of the National Library and Archives and Chairman of the Arab Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (ARBICA), emphasized that these initiatives align with the UAE Digital Transformation Strategy 2031. They are instrumental in efforts to streamline government processes and reduce bureaucracy.
During the launch event, Dr. Al Ali introduced the "Best AI Agent" initiative, aimed at fostering national talent to create innovative technological solutions. This initiative seeks to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency within the NLA.
Dr. Hamad Al Mutairi, Vice President of the International Council on Archives and Acting Executive Director of the National Library and Archives, described the launch as a strategic milestone in the digital transformation journey. The goal is to enhance the value and utility of information through these advanced systems.
Abdulazez Al-Amim, Acting Director of Information Technology and Digital Solutions, highlighted the significance of the new AI agents, particularly 'Knowledge Guardian' and the smart 'Memory' platform. These tools are designed to electronically analyze data and extract text, thereby expediting task completion and aiding decision-making processes.
The NLA Expo, part of the International Archives Week celebrations, showcased cutting-edge digital systems, software, and technology-driven initiatives supporting digital transformation. The event underscored an integrated digital ecosystem aimed at improving institutional efficiency while driving excellence and innovation in line with future aspirations.
