The National Council for Women (NCW) under Maya Morsi hailed a decision issued by Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa to launch four entities authorized to issue women-related fatwas (religious edicts).
In a statement Tuesday, Morsi voiced happiness over issuing such an unprecedented decision, saying that this decision shows the women’s ability to issue fatwas.
This great step came as part of the Awqaf Ministry’s efforts to attain women empowerment, which falls also within the framework of the State’s keenness on implementing the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Women 2030, added Morsi.
