Newborns face disaster in Kamal Adwan Hospital nursery

Gaza – Ma’an – The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned that a real humanitarian disaster is facing newborn babies in the nursery of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, in light of the fuel crisis and shortages of medicines and medical supplies as a result of the occupation’s siege of the northern Gaza Strip for the thirteenth consecutive day.

The Ministry of Health stated that the nursery department in Kamal Adwan, which is the only department that provides nursery services to newborns in the northern Gaza Strip, is full of cases, most of which are critical cases, and all of them are on ventilators.

Among the cases in the nursery was a child whose family was targeted immediately after birth. His parents and grandmother were killed, and he was left alone with a head injury and secondary infection.

The ministry indicated that there are a number of other cases waiting on the caesarean section schedule in order to be placed in the nursery.

She pointed out that the nursery staff is still
providing their services under the bombing and sounds of explosions.

Medical centers in northern Gaza are suffering from great pressure in light of the escalation of the occupation’s massacres and repeated targeting operations.

Earlier, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Hussam Abu Safiya, called on international organizations to pressure the occupation to allow medical delegations to enter the Strip, stressing that there is a shortage of medical supplies, and that medical teams are providing their services at the minimum level.

The occupation army has imposed a complete siege on northern Gaza for the 13th consecutive day, amidst intensive artillery and air bombardment and shooting at anyone moving or traveling through the public or side streets.
