OIC Welcomes UN Security Council’s Condemnation of Houthi Attacks against Saudi Territories

Jeddah, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, welcomed the presidential statement issued by the UN Security Council, condemning the attacks carried out by the terrorist Houthi militia on the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its civilian facilities.

Al-Othaimeen said: “the Security Council’s condemnation confirms the special importance that the members of the Council attach to the Yemen crisis and also comes in recognition of the importance of solving the crisis politically to contain its negative repercussions resulting from the Houthi terrorist militia’s rejection of ceasefire calls, and the lack of positive engagement in political negotiations conducing into the return of security and stability of the Republic of Yemen, leading to further deterioration of the humanitarian situation of people resulting from the continuing practices of the Houthi militia in besieging cities and preventing humanitarian aid from reaching Yemeni areas in need”.

Al-Othaimeen expressed appreciation of and thanks to the member states of the UN Security Council for their interest in this situation, which came within the framework of their responsibilities towards maintaining international peace and security, and for what the statement represents as an important impetus for the success of the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regionally and internationally in order to support reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
