The Orphan Development Foundation in the capital secretariat concluded first national festival for orphans activities, which lasted five days.
In conclusion, the Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Affairs, Dr. Hussein Maqbouli, praised this initiative to hold the first national festival to support and care for orphans, hold a group breakfast , a Ramadan evening, and distribute cash guarantees to them.
He pointed out the importance of providing protection, moral, educational and health care to this important segment and compensating them for the orphanhood and deprivation they have suffered in their lives.
Dr. Maqbouli praised the Foundation’s programs and projects, through which it seeks to improve the environment in which orphans live in various economic, social, educational, health, and recreational aspects. He stressed that these activities, which were provided with funding from the Foundation and the General Authority for the Care of Martyrs’ Families, come as part of efforts
to develop work and enhance efforts with supporting bodies.
At the event, which was attended by the Minister of Social Affairs of the caretaker government, Obaid bin Dubai, and the Secretary of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, praised the activities that were held on the sidelines of the festival, most notably the group breakfast, the Ramadan evening, and the distribution of cash sponsorships. Today, food baskets are distributed to about 1,200 orphan families in the capital secretariat.
He stressed that there is an official and societal effort to alleviate the suffering of orphans as a result of the conditions the country is going through as a result of the aggression and siege.
In addition, Dr. Maqbouli, Ben Dubai, Abbad, and a number of officials inaugurated a project to distribute food baskets to 1,200 orphan families in the capital secretariat.
They visited the embroidery factories, which produce bags and leather goods, and the Cotton Flower factory, which produces cotton clothes. They learned about th
e stages of production and its role in covering the market for national products.
