Authorities in California have ordered the evacuation of over 5,000 people due to wildfires that have spread over 17,000 acres. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) has reported that wildfires have rapidly expanded beyond control, prompting local authorities to issue mandatory evacuation orders for more than 5,000 residents. CAL FIRE said that its teams were unable to contain the fire threatening over 8,000 buildings until yesterday morning because of the constantly high temperatures that are elevating the risk of further fire outbreaks. The escalation of wildfires in California in recent years has been linked to climate change, which has resulted in hotter and drier conditions in the region over the past three decades.
