PM participates with Education Ministry inaugurating new academic year 1445 AH

Prime Minister Abdulaziz bin Habtoor on Tuesday affirmed that one of the main directions of the leadership and government during the next year is to support the education sector and work to develop it and achieve the strength of its pivotal role in serving the strategic issues of Yemen and its people.

This came during his participation in the event of the inauguration of the new academic year 1445 AH, which was held by the Ministry of Education under the slogan “Education is everyone’s responsibility”.

The Prime Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the Ministry and its administrative and educational staff for organizing this event, in which the Ministry begins its activities for the new academic year and to all male and female teachers spread throughout the provinces of the Republic who carry out their national, religious and humanitarian duty and perform their educational mission while living the burdens of the exceptional circumstance that the country passes by without salaries.

He stressed that education is a national mission that is not limited to officials in this sector only, but also to all other sectors of the state and society, who should join their efforts in order to support and make it a success.

Bin Habtoor disclosed a directive to the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, to focus the upcoming government activity on education and social issues as one of the urgent and important tasks that are directly related to the victory achieved by the people of Yemen against the coalition of aggression and siege.

He mentioned that the victory that was achieved over the enemies occurred either by a miracle from heaven or by the correctness of the approach followed by the leader of the revolution and all those who believed in this approach.

He added “We must establish and continue to establish a generation that can continue to defend this country, this revolution, and this nation, by arming teachers and their students with great national concepts.”

He went on saying “Our bet on this generation is a big bet in assuming the responsibility of building and defending the future of this country by preparing it properly in the scientific, cognitive and spiritual aspects to enhance its ability to withstand the soft war waged by the enemies, coupled with a group of dangerous satanic ideas that work in destroying the pillars of society, its culture, values, and strategic references that are consistent with the common sense of man.”

The Prime Minister pointed to the danger of equality between friend and enemy, traitor and loyal to his homeland, and the importance of assimilating it by all, including male and female students, who should instill basic national concepts in their minds and benefit them in order to develop authentic moral and human values and patriotism within them and a culture of selflessness.

He went on to say “We greatly appreciate the work of all male and female teachers who proved and stood firm throughout this period and made that miraculous achievement represented in the continuation of the educational process in all schools and thwarted the goals and bets of the enemies in disrupting the activity of this sector.”

Bin Haboor indicated that the requirements of education are large and wide, which necessitates directing a large part of the available revenues for the benefit of this sector and strengthening and developing its role and great function in serving the present and future of the country.

In return, Minister of Education Yahya Badr al-Din al-Houthi confirmed the disbursement of incentives for school workers of Y.R 30,000 during the next few days, reviewing the ministry’s tireless efforts to advance the educational process at the level of the various sectors of the ministry despite the scarcity of the capabilities, the most prominent of which is the establishment of the Education Fund, which contributed, despite its limited revenues, to alleviating even a small part of the teacher’s burdens and printing 50 percent of the actual need for public school books, amounting to 23 million 513 thousand and 707 books funded by the Teacher and Education Support Fund.

He touched on the efforts to build and restore schools and their annexes, including the construction of 22 new schools and the restoration of 1,562 schools, as well as educational surveys, annual plans, development efforts for the educational information system, and automation of general certificate exams, which constituted a pioneering experience at the level of countries in the region, as well as the transformation in the data of 2 million and 860 thousand male and female students joined the electronic system, linking the curricula and guidance sector to the optical fiber system, as well as efforts to develop curricula and diversify educational paths.

The Minister of Education referred to the Ministry’s efforts through the Literacy and Adult Education Agency, where 2,199 illiteracy eradication centers were opened, and the number of students in the free provinces reached 94,797 students, pointing to the development efforts that accompanied this in terms of developing and updating literacy curricula and automating tests.

He pointed to the suffering of the ministry and the condition it was in and the damage caused to its educational facilities as a result of direct and systematic aggression targeting it and the subsequent beating, siege and media war over eight years in light of its lack of budget and the accumulation of its negatives from the time of the previous regime.

He added “However, we determined, along with all the loyal members of this institution, to move forward in advancing our national and humanitarian mission and fulfilling what our people, our blessed leader may Allah protect him, by performing our educational mission with all challenge, steadfastness and patience, bypassing the obstacles of war, destruction and dangers.”
