Amman: Pope Francis on Sunday expressed concern over the escalation between Iran and Israel.
He urged avoiding actions that could fuel a “spiral of violence” and threaten to drag the Middle East into further conflicts.
“No party should threaten the existence of the other,” Pope Francis told crowds in St. Peter’s Square, calling on everyone to seek peace and help Palestinians and Israelis live in two (independent) states in safety.
He also renewed his call for a ceasefire in Gaza and negotiations to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered.
