Quito: Daniel Noboa, President of the Republic of Ecuador, welcomed Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Ecuador, to discuss future avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
According to Emirates News Agency, Al Olama conveyed greetings from UAE leaders, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to President Noboa, along with their wishes for prosperity for Ecuador. President Noboa reciprocated by sending his greetings to the UAE leadership, expressing similar well-wishes for the UAE’s progress.
The discussions between Al Olama and President Noboa focused on the strengthening of UAE-Ecuador ties across various sectors, emphasizing strategic areas of mutual interest. The dialogue built upon progress from President Noboa’s visit to the UAE in February 2026, which included a meeting with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Al Olama emphasized the growth of UAE-Ecuador relations, highlighting the importance of international partnerships in shaping future economies. He expressed optimism about the upcoming Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which is expected to enhance trade and investment opportunities between the two countries, supporting sustainable development goals.
Additionally, Al Olama met with Roberto Kury, Ecuador’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, to discuss a range of mutual interests, including humanitarian aid, regional developments, and energy security. Both parties reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation and finalizing trade agreements.
In further meetings with senior Ecuadorian officials, including ministers of Economy, National Defense, and Infrastructure, Al Olama explored ways to strengthen partnerships in sectors critical to both countries’ development objectives.
The visit also emphasized parliamentary cooperation, with Al Olama meeting members of Ecuador’s National Assembly to enhance ties and coordinate on mutual challenges. This engagement follows the formation of the UAE-Ecuador Parliamentary Friendship Group in June 2025.
Al Olama’s visit underscores the momentum in UAE-Ecuador relations, building on previous engagements that have strengthened political, economic, and trade ties, particularly in areas like artificial intelligence and infrastructure.
