Project opened to empower Palestinians in Baqa’a Camp

Amman: Director-General of the Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA), Rafiq Khirfan, inaugurated a project aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Palestinian refugee youths in the Baqa’a Camp.

The project, titled “Strengthening the Influence of Palestinian Refugees on their Living Conditions in the MENA Region (PART II),” is being implemented by the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) in collaboration with Tammey for Youth Development.

Its primary objectives include the framing and institutionalization of youth volunteer work, facilitating rapid and effective responses, and ensuring preparedness for community engagement, particularly in times of crises and emergencies.

Furthermore, the initiative seeks to empower young individuals to effectively represent the concerns and issues of their communities at the local, regional, and international levels.

During the inauguration ceremony, Khirfan underscored the pivotal role of youth and the imperative of honing their skills to enable collaborative eff
orts in serving their communities.

He emphasized the necessity of equipping them with the ability to navigate exceptional circumstances. Khirfan engaged with youth from the camp, gaining insights into their demands and the significant challenges they encounter.

The presentation included an overview of the DPA’s role and responsibilities, along with insights from Tammey elucidating the program’s objectives and its interconnectedness with the Department’s mission.
