The State of Qatar has expressed its welcome to the signing of the short-term ceasefire agreement by representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Jeddah.
In a statement released today, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Qatar’s aspirations that this agreement would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and subsequent broad negotiations that involve all Sudanese political forces, in a bid to reach a comprehensive agreement and sustainable peace that achieves the Sudanese people’s aspirations for stability, development and prosperity.
The Ministry reaffirmed the State of Qatar’s stance calling for an immediate end to the fighting in Sudan, the exercise of maximum restraint and prioritizing the voice of reason and the public interest.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed the State of Qatar’s appreciation for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to reach this agreement, and their good endeavors to end the conflict and achieve stability in Sudan.
