QatarEnergy and Egyptian Petroleum Ministry Ink LNG Supply Agreement

Doha: QatarEnergy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Arab Republic of Egypt to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on the supply of LNG from QatarEnergy to Egypt. The agreement was formalized by Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt Karim Badawi during a ceremony at QatarEnergy's headquarters.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Kaabi expressed satisfaction at the signing ceremony, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation with Egypt, particularly in the context of LNG supply from QatarEnergy's portfolio. He highlighted that the MoU reinforces their bilateral relationship and aims to meet Egypt's increasing energy demands to support its economic and industrial growth. Al Kaabi also expressed anticipation for further collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and partners in Egypt to assist with future LNG requirements.

The MoU outlines continued cooperation in the energy sector, including long-term LNG delivery from QatarEnergy to Egypt. QatarEnergy and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) have agreed to supply up to 24 LNG cargoes for the summer of 2026. Additionally, QatarEnergy and EGAS will begin discussions on further long-term LNG supplies to Egypt.
