Radisson Hotels Group Expands Operations in Saudi Arabia, Raises Investment Portfolio to around 50%

Riyadh, The Radisson Hotel Group said it is taking important steps towards expanding its activities in Saudi Arabia and boosting its investment portfolio in the Kingdom to around 50% of its total investments in the Middle East by 2026.

The Radisson Group added that the expansion plan includes opening 20 hotels, currently under construction and development, to be added to the 24 hotels, resorts and hotel units operated by the group in the Kingdom. The conglomerate added that the new hotels will be inaugurated during the next three years as the expansion includes offering 600 hotel rooms in Jeddah, about 1,000 hotel rooms in Makkah in addition to launching the Radisson Individuals brand.

The Group’s announcement was made following a meeting between the Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khatib and the Group’s CEO Federico Gonzalez.

Commending the Group’s ambitious expansion plan, the Minister said: “The commitment of Radisson Hotel Group to developing new hotels in the Kingdom and opening a regional office in Riyadh is an effective contribution to enhance the steps taken by the Kingdom to achieve its goal of receiving 100 million visits by 2030.”

He added, “This cooperation is a continuation of our partnerships with world-leading hotel brands,” stressing that continuing the partnership with the private sector is a vital element of the Kingdom’s tourism strategy.

The Group also announced its endeavor to open a regional office in Riyadh during this year to support plans to double its operational portfolio by adding more hotels in various regions, corresponding to its five-year plan to create more job opportunities.

Other hotels are scheduled to be launched, including the Radisson Blu Hotel at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Mansard Hotel in Riyadh and the Radisson Collection Hotel, the second hotel for the luxury brand “Radisson Collection” in Riyadh.

The National Tourism Development Strategy, which was launched by the Ministry of Tourism in 2019, aims to make available 854,000 new hotel rooms, 70% of which will be financed by the local and foreign private sectors, a step falling in line with the Kingdom’s bid to achieve the Vision 2030 target to hit the 100 million visit benchmark by 2030, and thus put the tourism sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP at 10% and create one million new jobs.
