RAK-DED Launches Campaign to Combat Counterfeit Goods

Ras al khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development (RAK DED), through its Commercial Control and Protection Department, has launched an awareness campaign titled 'Protect Your Products from Counterfeiting.' This initiative is part of RAK DED's ongoing efforts to bolster the business environment and safeguard intellectual property rights in the emirate.

According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign aims to enlighten commercial establishments about the dangers of trading counterfeit products, emphasizing the legal repercussions outlined in UAE legislation for businesses caught with counterfeit goods. The initiative involved field visits to 350 commercial establishments, where they were educated on relevant laws and regulations and provided with guidance to ensure compliance with legal standards.

The campaign also encouraged business owners to report individuals promoting counterfeit goods via the department's official channels, aiding in the reduction of this issue, enhancing trademark protection, and preserving intellectual property rights in Ras Al Khaimah. The effort garnered a 95 percent satisfaction rate, indicating businesses' appreciation of the department's efforts to prevent financial penalties that could strain their budgets.

In this context, Faisal Abdullah Alyoon, Director of the Commercial Control and Protection Department, emphasized that RAK DED continues to intensify inspection campaigns to identify and seize counterfeit goods. This is a crucial part of their ongoing mission to protect intellectual property rights and ensure consumer safety from harmful products.

This initiative is one of several efforts by the department to boost commercial compliance and create a secure and appealing economic environment that supports sustainable economic growth in the emirate.
