RAK Ruler Leads UAE Delegation to GCC-ASEAN Summit in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur: On behalf of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, arrived in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, to lead the UAE delegation at the 2nd GCC-ASEAN Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. These summits are set to occur under the theme 'Inclusivity and Sustainability'. According to Emirates News Agency, Malaysia is hosting these significant events as part of its current presidency of ASEAN 2025. H.H. Sheikh Saud was welcomed by Malaysian Minister of Defence Mohamed Khaled Nordin, along with several other Malaysian officials. The official UAE delegation includes Sheikh Khalid bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah's Investment and Development Office; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State; Khalil Mohammed Sharif Foulathi, board member of the Abu Dhabi Inve stment Authority (ADIA); Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Malaysia, and Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Indonesia and ASEAN. The summits, attended by leaders, heads of government, and representatives from participating countries, aim to discuss enhancing cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and China. The discussions will focus on economic, investment, development, and political fields, exploring new cooperation opportunities to achieve development and prosperity for the countries' peoples. This marks the second summit between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), following the initial Riyadh Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2023. During that summit, it was agreed to hold the GCC-ASEAN summit biennially.
