Saif bin Zayed Engages in Strategic Talks with Global Officials in Baku.


BAKU: Lieutenant General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, engaged in key discussions with international officials in Baku, Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the COP29.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed met with Vilayat Eyvazov, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. They exchanged views on enhancing security and stability, discussing the role of the (I2LEC) initiative in supporting law enforcement in combating environmental crimes. The meeting highlighted the launch of a strategic police dialogue between the two countries’ Ministries of Interior to enhance their security partnership.

H.H. also met with Dr. Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, to review international efforts within the (I2LEC) initiative focused on environmental crimes. The discussion emphasized international cooperation to boost peace, stability, and sustainable development, addressing challenges of organized crime.

In a meeting
with Ghada Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Sheikh Saif discussed the partnership with the United Nations and the progress of initiatives under the (I2LEC) initiative, aimed at empowering law enforcement agencies against environmental crimes for a sustainable future.

Sheikh Saif’s discussions continued with Igor Krasnov, Prosecutor General of Russia, focusing on the (I2LEC) initiative’s international role in combating related crimes. They explored developing bilateral cooperation in security and justice to address cross-border security challenges, including terrorism and organized crime.

Lastly, H.H. met with Alexander Zouev, Assistant Secretary-General for the Office of Rule of Law and Security Institutions in the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations. The dialogue covered regional and international developments and the positive impact of the (I2LEC) initiative on stability, underlining the importance of strategic partnerships and adherence to
the rule of law for achieving global peace and justice.
