Salt records highest rainfall average in current depression

Amman: Rainfalls between January 23 and 28 concentrated in the northern and central regions of the Kingdom and were heavy at times, which led to the formation of floods in the valleys and low-lying areas, the director of the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), Raed Al-Khatib, said.

In a statement issued Sunday, Al-Khatib added that the Salt Meteorological Station recorded the highest total rainfall in the central regions, reaching 111.5 mm, which represents 22% of its annual seasonal average, followed by the Hussein Meteorological Station with a total rainfall of 77.0 mm and a percentage of 16% of its annual seasonal average, then the University of Jordan Meteorological Station with a total rainfall of 72.7 mm and a percentage of 14% of its annual seasonal average.

Al-Khatib continued that the Ras Munif Meteorological Station recorded the highest total rainfall in the northern regions, reaching 107.0 mm and a percentage of 18% of its annual seasonal average, followed by the Irbid Meteorological Station
with a total rainfall of 68.5 mm and a percentage of 15% of its annual seasonal average, and then the Al-Baqoura Meteorological Station in the northern Jordan Valley with a total rainfall of 54.5 mm and a percentage of 14% of its annual seasonal average.

In the central eastern regions, Al-Khatib said that the Queen Alia International Airport Meteorological Station recorded the highest total rainfall, reaching 26.9 mm, and a percentage of 18% of its annual seasonal average, followed by the Zarqa Meteorological Station with a total rainfall of 20.2 mm, and a percentage of 16% of its annual seasonal average, while the Mafraq Meteorological Station recorded the highest rainfall in the northeastern regions with a total rainfall of 21.1 mm, and a percentage of 14% of its annual seasonal average.

As for the southwestern regions, Al-Khatib said that the Rubba Meteorological Station recorded the highest total rainfall, reaching 44.8 mm and a percentage of 14% of its annual seasonal average, followed by the Shobak Me
teorological Station with a total rainfall of 16.2 mm and a percentage of 7% of its annual seasonal average, then the Qatraneh Meteorological Station with a total rainfall of 10.9 mm, and a percentage of 11% of its annual seasonal average.
