ABU DHABI: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), today received Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, Speaker of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Somalia, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields, especially parliamentary ones. The two sides emphasised the importance of coordination and consultation on various issues of common interest to achieve the effectiveness of the role of parliamentary diplomacy, especially during participation in regional and international parliamentary events. The meeting also reviewed the relations and aspects of cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially in the development and humanitarian fields. Ghobash welcomed the announcement by the Somali Senate to form a parliamentary friendship committee with the United Arab Emirates, stressing the importance of the role of friendship committees in advancing parliamentary cooperation.
