Saudi Arabia Chairs Committee of Riyadh MoU on Port State Control

Riyadh, Members of the Committee of Riyadh Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control of states of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States (GCC) have elected the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to chair the committee, starting from this year 2021 and for 3 years.

This regional MoU aims to organize operations of inspection and control of ships and exchange information among port authorities in the GCC states, in addition to adhere to the requirements of the international conventions, regulations and laws and other organizations concerned with the safety of navigation and the marine environment.

The MoU is one of 7 memoranda of understanding established under the umbrella of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which is concerned with the inspection and control of ships for all regions in the world, and enjoys financial and administrative independence.
