Saudi Arabia Chairs Meeting of Committee Concerned with Tropical Cyclones in Arab Sea and Bay of Bengal

Jeddah, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today virtually, chaired the 49th meeting of the joint committee formed by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) concerned with tropical cyclones in the Arabia Sea and Bay of Bengal.

CEO of the National Center for Meteorology Dr. Ayman Ghulam said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, over the past few years, sought to increase its technical and planning capabilities concerned with tropical cyclones, whether through logistic assistance and early warning for the indirect impacts of tropical cyclones on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through increasing the geographical coverage, increasing the accuracy of models, boosting the number of radars, and enhancing direct coordination with concerned agencies to maximize preparedness.
