Saudi Arabia Participates in Cyclist International Congress in Switzerland

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by Saudi Cycling Federation (SCF) president and Arab Cycling Federation (ACF) vice president Abdullah Al-Wathlan, participated in the 193rd Union Cyclist International (UCI) Congress held today in Zurich, Switzerland. The congress saw the attendance of 118 national federations, coinciding with the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships. The congress began with an opening speech by UCI president David Lappartient, who praised the achievements of the national federations in 2023. This was followed by remarks from the presidents of member federations. The UCI presented a report on "Training Centers - Women's Cycling - International Testing Agencies (ITA)," along with the first report on sustainability, which supports the UCI's promotion of cycling as an environmentally friendly mode of transportation. During the congress, it was announced that several countries have recently joined the UCI and that Rwanda will host the 2025 Road World Championships. M eanwhile, the SCF president held a series of meetings on the sidelines of the congress, where he met with the UCI president, the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) president, members of the International Executive Board, and several Asian and Arab federations.
